Which cell organelle is known as a powerhouse of cells & why?
Aerobic respiration and the release of energy for cellular activity are closely linked in double-membrane mitochondria. The biological oxidation of lipids and carbohydrates releases a large quantity of energy, which mitochondria use to synthesize ATP. When ATP molecules release the energy necessary for numerous cell activities, they are referred to as the "Powerhouse of the Cell."
