Metabolism is described as the combination of the body's life functions. Enzymes are responsible for directing metabolic pathways. Catalysts are enzymes. Enzymes are organic catalysts that are highly specialized and are created by living cells. Biochemical pathways are the sequences of reactions that occur in cells. Enzymes direct metabolic pathways in the desired direction. They have an active site. The substrate binds to the active site of the enzyme, resulting in the formation of an enzyme-substrate complex.
