Explanation Flowers are highly modified shoot and they consist of corolla, calyx, anther, filament, ovary and thalamus. The petals ( corolla) are arranged in different pattern on the thalamus. There are three different arrangements- Hypogyny: In this arrangement, the petals are arranged below the gynoecium. Thus ,the ovary is superior and rest of the parts are referred to as inferior. Example- China rose Perigyny: In this arrangement, the ovary is partly inferior. The gynoecium is present at the centre and the thalamus is flattened. Example- Strawberry. Epigyny: In this type of arrangement, the ovary is fused with the thalamus and the thalamus rises upwards like a flask. All the other parts, sepals, petals and stamens are present above the ovary. Final Answer Flower is a modified shoot and consists of sepals, petals (corolla), stamen, ovary and thalamus. The petals are arranged in different patterns on the thalamus. There are three different arrangements: Hypogny Perigny Epigny
