Explanation The body wall of earthworms consists of cuticle, epidermis, muscular layer, and coelomic epithelium. It is responsible for: giving the body of the earthworm a definite shape and elasticity. helping the earthworm with respiration. protecting the delicate internal organs from injury. secreting mucus that keeps the body surface slimy and also helps in killing harmful bacteria. helping in movement by alternate contraction and relaxation of the circular and inner longitudinal muscle. reception of external stimuli. Final answer Earthworms have body walls that consist of muscle layers. The body wall help in movement and burrowing while the epidermis is responsible for acting as a secretory organ. The structure is also involved in respiration, which it does by keeping the surface moist always.
