Explanation Mitochondria are the double membrane-bound organelle with a soft outer surface and folded inner surface. It is tubular in structure and surrounded by matrix. It is also known as the powerhouse of the cell. It is involved in the production of Adenosine tri-phosphate. Mitochondria are involved in oxidative metabolism. It possesses DNA to produce proteins required for the activity of the mitochondria. Mitochondrial replication is dependent on nuclear participation. The chloroplast is another double membrane-bound organelle present in the cells. The chloroplasts are slightly larger than the mitochondria. It contains chlorophyll and participates in the process of photosynthesis. It has a compact structure similar to a pile of coins called a granum. Each granum is made of subunits called thylakoid. It has a matrix surface also known as the stroma. The chloroplast posses DNA in it.
