Explanation Various protein based products are used as therapeutic agent in the field of medicine. Some of them are- Thrombin & Fibrinogen help in blood clotting Artificial insulin helps in regulation of blood glucose level Renin helps in osmoregulation. Antigen (antibody) plays an important role in blood transfusion. Streptokinase is used in thrombolytic medication. other therapeutic agents include interleukins, ELISA, diastase, oxytocin, etc Other application of proteins are: Cosmetics- Proteins like collagen and hyaluronic acid have been used in cosmetics for a long time due to their strong moisturising, improving elasticity and repair skin texture. They are also used in various shampoos to improve hair quality. Bio medicine- Extracted protein from fish, egg, okra, etc are known to work as biomedicine. Opinion: Proteins are known to have various applications in many industries. It is not only used as therapeutic agent (streptokinase, fibrinogen, thrombin, monoclonal antibodies, etc.) but also in cosmetic industry (collagen, hyaluronic acid) and food industry (fish cot oil, wheat glutin) and many more.
