The carbon dioxide is transported in the body by three mechanisms which are as follows: The carbon dioxide can be transported in dissolved form in the blood. The carbon dioxide is picked up from the lungs due to the difference in the partial pressure and transported through the blood to various tissues and cells. The carbon dioxide can also be transported in a bounded state with hemoglobin. The hemoglobin binds with carbon dioxide to form carbaminohemoglobin that is taken through red blood cells to different areas.
