The forebrain is also called as prosencephalon which is composed of the telencephalon containing the cerebral hemispheres and under them the diencephalon containing the thalamus, hypothalamus, epithalamus, and subthalamus. The forebrain plays a crucial role in the processing of information related to complex, sensory, and associative functions, as well as voluntary motor activities. It represents one of the three major developmental divisions of the brain.
