The hindbrain also called rhombencephalon is the lower and simplest region of the brainstem, comprising the cerebellum, pons, and medulla oblongata where the cerebellum is the second largest part of the brain and is concerned with maintaining posture as well as the equilibrium of the body. The pons is a band of nerve fiber lying between medulla oblongata and midbrain and is the largest part of the brainstem and seals with sleep, bladder control, hearing, facial expressions, posture, etc. The medulla oblongata is the posterior part of the brain. It is located beneath the cerebellum and extends to form the spinal cord.
