The organ of Corti is a structure in the cochlea of the inner ear which on receiving sound vibrations produces nerve impulses. It is located in the middle cochlear canal and consists of hair cells also known as mechanoreceptors on its basilar membrane that generates the auditory impulse which is further carried by auditory nerves.
