Name the hormones involved in regulation of spermatogenesis
Explanation Spermatogenesis is stimulated at puberty by the secretion of the gonadotropins. Due to significant increase in the level of gonadotropic releasing hormone from the hypothalamus at the time of puberty, the anterior pituitary is stimulated to produce two gonadotropic hormones – luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone. These two hormones are responsible for the regulation of spermatogenesis. The luteinizing hormone (LH) is secreted by the anterior pituitary and acts on the Leydig cells to stimulate the secretion of androgens. Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) also acts on the Sertoli cells to secrete factors which help in spermiogenesis. Final Answer Hormones involved in regulation of spermatogenesis are luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone.
