Attempt to formulate your ‘moral’ views on the practice of science. Imagine yourself stumbling upon a discovery, which has great academic interest but is certain to have nothing but dangerous consequences for the human society. How, if at all, will you resolve your dilemma ?

Explanation In science, everything is based upon trials/ outcomes/ experimentation/ theories. On the basis of it, the fundamental laws are made. Hence it’s a journey towards truth behind the mystery of this visible or non-visible universe. And a scientific discovery may have good as well as adverse effects for the human society. If any discovery has great academic interest but dangerous results for the human society, the information must be made public. It is the responsibility of the scientists to spread awareness about its truth and the ways to stop its misuse. For example: discovery of nuclear fission reaction to produce tremendous energy is of great interest for the society but nuclear energy should be used for peaceful purposes only (like nuclear power generation) not for the wars. Final Answer In any discovery it will have good as well as adverse effects on the society so to resolve this dilemma scientists must create awareness among the society about the misuse of the invention so that these discoveries can be used only for purposes for which they are actually invented for.
