Pig iron is acquired from blast surface. It contains 4% C and hint of impurities such as S,P,Si,Mn etc. Pig iron is melted (the usage of warm air blast) with scrap iron and coke to shape forged iron.  Carbon content material is around 3% and solid iron is extraordinarily tough and brittle.
