Mechanism of synaptic transmission Synapse is a junction among neurons. It is gift among the axon terminal of 1 neuron and the dendrite of subsequent neuron separated with the aid of using a cleft. There are methods of synaptic transmission. (1) Chemical transmission (2) Electrical transmission 1. Chemical transmission - When a nerve impulse reaches the stop plate of axon, it releases a neurotransmitter (acetylcholine) throughout the synaptic cleft. This chemical is synthesized in mobileular frame of the neuron and is transported to the axon terminal. The acetylcholine diffuses throughout the cleft and binds to the receptors gift at the membrane of subsequent neuron. This reasons depolarization of membrane and initiates an movement capacity. 2. Electrical transmission - In this form of transmission, an electric powered modern is fashioned withinside the neuron. This electric powered modern generates an movement capacity and results in transmission of nerve impulse throughout the nerve fibre. This represents a quicker technique of nerve conduction than the chemical approach of transmission.
