In the ampullary-isthmic junction,fertilization of the ovum takes place. For fertilization to occur, the ovum and sperms should be transported simultaneously to the ampullary–isthmic junction of the Fallopian tube. Fertilization takes place in the ampullary region of the fallopian tube or oviduct.
