Option C) Ozone is an allotrope of oxygen that is formed from dioxygen by the action of ultraviolet light and also atmospheric electrical discharges. The ozone layer in the stratosphere acts as a filter for the shorter wavelength and highly hazardous ultraviolet radiation (UVR) from the sun, protecting life on Earth from its potentially harmful effects.
