Option C) Aldehydes are organic chemical compounds that include a -carbonyl group (i.e. an oxygen atom attached to a carbon atom by a double covalent bond) and a hydrogen atom attached to the carbon atom of the carbonyl group: The presence of that hydrogen atom makes aldehydes very easy to oxidize. Or, put another way, they are strong reducing agents.
