Refractive index of a solid is observed to have the same value along all directions. Comment on the nature of this solid. Would it show cleavage property?
Isotropic solid has the same value of the refractive index in all the direction, all isotropic solid and amorphous solid. Amorphous solid cut into two pieces with irregular surfaces, therefore amorphous solid does not show cleavage property.
