Removal of gonads cannot be considered as a contraceptive option. Why?

Contraceptive techniques refer to any kind of strategy that prevents undesirable pregnancies. Whereas, if the gonads are removed it causes sterility. If the gonads are removed gametogenesis is ceased.  Contraceptions can be reversed but not the surgical methods like gonad removals.
