Why does a microwave oven heats up a food item containing water molecules most efficiently?
In microwave oven, molecules of food item starts to vibrate by driven by driven force due to microwaves with the frequency of microwave. But the natural frequency of water molcules matches with microwave frequency which causes resonance (more amplitude) which further causes increase in temperature.
