A variable frequency a.c source is connected to a capacitor. How will the displacement current change with a decrease in frequency?
Current through the capacitor is directly proportional to impedance. I∝Xc The impedance of a capacitor is Xc=ωC1 So, I∝ωC1 The angular frequency ω is given as: ω=2πf ⇒I∝2πfC1 Hence decrease in the frequency f of a.c. source decreases the conduction current. So there will be a decrease in the displacement current in the circuit.
