The amplifiers X, Y and Z are connected in series. If the voltage gains of X, Y and Z are 10, 20 and 30, respectively and the input signal is 1 mV peak value, then what is the output signal voltage (peak value) (i) if dc supply voltage is 10V? (ii) if dc supply voltage is 5V?

AVx=10, AVy=20, AVz=30 Signal AVi=1mV=10−3V AV=ViV0 AVx×AVy×AVz=ViV0 V0=Vi×AVx×AVy×AVz=10−3×10×20×30=6V (output signal) (i) If DC supply voltage is 10V and output voltage 6V as the theoretical gain and practical gains are equal to output will be 6V (ii) When DC supply voltage 5V or Vce=5V then output peak cannot exceed by 5V. So output will be 5V
