In an unbiased p – n junction, holes diffuse to n – region from p – region because (a) free electrons in the n-region attract them. (b) they move across the junction by the potential difference. (c) hole concentration in p-region is more as compared to n-region. (d) All of the above.

In an unbiased p - n junction, diffusion of current occurs. The main reason of this phenomena are as follows- (i) The negative charge carriers (electrons) attract the positive charge carriers(holes). (ii) The concentration of the p - region and the n - region are the same. The concentration of holes in the p - region is far more than that of the n - region. (iii) Because of the potential difference the holes tend to move towards the n - region
