Explain why meiosis and gametogenesis are always interlinked?
The process of gamete production is gametogenesis while reductional division wherein chromosomes are halved is meiosis. For gametes to produce haploid cells, meiosis must take place. With two successive meiotic cycles, the chromosome number is reduced to half. This is why both gametogenesis and meiosis are interlinked.
