Why is syngamy a major event in sexual reproduction?
The fusion of the male and female gametes at some stage in fertilization is known as syngamy. Syngamy guarantees the continuity of species in a sexually reproducing organism and this is what every individual wants i.e to continue their generation. In this process, a fusion of egg nucleus with make gamete resulting in the formation of diploid zygote or embryo.
