The pollen grain is normally spherical with 2 wall layers. The outer layer is exine composed of a highly resistant organic substance called sporopollenin which is absent at the aperture region called germ pore. The inner layer is called the intine which is made up of pectin and cellulose. A mature pollen grain has a vegetative cell and a generative cell.
