The process of development of immunity with the help of vaccines taken in the body is called vaccination, here to produce immunity against a particular pathogen a weakened pathogen is injected into the body that results in the production of antibodies. The antibodies that are produced against these antigens would result in the neutralization of the pathogenic agent. The vaccine will startle the pathogen by producing a large number of antibodies and will also generate memory B – and T – cells that help in recognizing the pathogen quickly when they are exposed to them. The type of immunity provided by vaccination is Active immunity. However, we need to directly inject the immunity to a patient’s body if a person is infected with some deadly microbe to which a quick immune response is required, this type of immunization is called Passive immunization
