How is autoradiography used to detect a mutated gene?
In a clone of cells, a single-stranded DNA or RNA tagged with a radioactive molecule is allowed to hybridize to its complements DNA before being detected by autoradiography. Because the probe will not be complementary with the mutant gene, therefore, the clone with the altered gene will not appear on photographic film.
