Account for the following : (a) Artificial rain can be caused by spraying electrified sand on the clouds.
Colloidal dispersion of water particles in air forms clouds. These water particles have a charge attached to them. When an aeroplane sprays oppositely charged colloidal dust or sand particles over a cloud, the colloidal water particles in the cloud are neutralised, and as a result, they approach closer and grow in size to create larger water drops, eventually coagulating or pre coagulating.
