Give reason o-nitrophenol is steam volatile but p-nitrophenol is not.

In the case of p-nitrophenol molecules, energy is necessary to overcome attractive forces, while in the case of o-nitrophenol molecules, no such energy is required. This indicates that o-nitrophenol has a lower boiling point and is thus steam volatile, whereas p-nitrophenol has a higher boiling point and is thus steam non-volatile.
