Benzaldehyde gives a positive test with Tollens reagent but not with Fehlings solution. State the reason.

Under normal circumstances, aldehydes that lack alpha hydrogens and so cannot form an enolate do not produce a positive test using Fehling's solution, which is a weaker oxidising agent than Tollen's reagent.
