What are vitamins? How are they classified?
Vitamins are chemical molecules that are important micronutrients that an organism need in little amounts for its metabolism to function properly. Essential nutrients are unable to be produced in the body, either entirely or in adequate amounts, and must therefore be acquired from food. Classification of vitamins: Water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins are the two types of vitamins. There are 13 vitamins in humans: four fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) and nine water-soluble vitamins (8 B vitamins and vitamin C).
