Enzymes show specificity when it comes to the particular reactions they catalyze. Only a few enzymes have absolute specificity, which means they will catalyze only one reaction. Other enzymes will have a preference for a specific chemical bond or functional group. There are four different forms of specificity in general: Absolute specificity, group specificity, linkage specificity, and stereochemical specificity.
