Brood parasitism. It refers to the phenomenon in which one (parasitic) bird species lays its eggs in the nest of another bird species. Evolution has occurred in such a way that the eggs of the parasitic birds resemble those of the host bird in size, colour, etc. to avoid the host bird detecting the foreign eggs and ejecting them from the nest. Example. Cuckoo birds lay eggs in the nests of crows.
