Explain the two ways by which seeds develop without fertilisation
Apomixis is a form of asexual reproduction that mimics sexual reproduction: (a) The diploid egg cell is formed without reduction division and develop into an embryo without fertilisation. (b) In some varieties of citrus and mango, some of the nucellar cells surrounding the embryo sac start dividing, produce embryo sac and develop into embryos. In such species, each ovule contains many embryones. Such a process is called polyembryony.
