Solution: Let p(x) = x2 – √3x + 40 = x2 – 5x – 8x + 40 = x(x – 5) – 8(x – 5) = (x – 5) (x – 8) Now, for zeroes of given polynomial, put p(x) = 0 ∴ (x – 5) (x – 8) = 0 x = 5 or x = 8 ⇒ Hence, other zero is 8.
