A saline water solution contains 50 grams of salt dissolved in 400 grams of water. Calculate the concentration of the solution in terms of mass-by-mass percentage of the solution.

Mass of solute = 50g Mass of solvent = 400g Mass of solution = Mass of solute + mass of solvent = 50 + 400 = 450g Mass percentage of solution = mass of solutemass of solution×100 = 50450×100 = 11.11%
