Which companies own social media platforms?
Although there are many different platforms available, many of the most popular ones are owned by the same few companies. For example, Facebook also owns Instagram and WhatsApp (as well as Oculus VR and several other businesses). Google owns YouTube and previously had its own social network, Google+. Tencent, a Chinese company, owns QQ, Qzone, and WeChat, some of the biggest platforms in Asia.
