What are the differences between associative hatching and non-associative hatching in CAD?

Basically, an associatve hatch moves with the boundry and non-associative does not. If you place notes in a hatch pattern and later need to revise or move the note you will quickly become a fan of associative hatching. Associative hatching causes AutoCAD to crash and corrupt drawings. Non-associative does not.
