Kolam and Alpana designs are almost same rangoli designs made on floors, celebrating festivals, the difference between the two of them that Alpana design, practiced in Bengal is made by rice flour using colourful patterns and designs made using curves, and shapes and Kolam design, practiced in Karnataka is made using synthetic or naturally made colours, using dots, lines, etc.
