Firstly, coal is grounded into fine powder by putting it in a pulverizer in a device called a boiler. Later it is burnt. The heat which is produced by burning converts water that is present in the boiler to steam. The high pressure of steam turns the blades of a turbine. This results in the spinning of the generator and electricity is produced.
