7. What Is Foreshortening?
Lines used to create the illusion of depth, to illustrate that something is actually closer to your eye. I would say it's a relative of perspective. For example, if you draw someone pointing a finger at you, the finger and hand are foreshortened which means they appear larger than the arm or head.
