Indigo revolt (1858) in Bengali was the revolt of the indigo farmers against the indigo planters. Nil Darpan in 1860, Biye Pagla Budo in 1866, Nabin Tapasvini in 1863, and Sadhabar Ekadashi in 1866 are the important plays by him. Lilavati in 1867, Jamai Barik in 1873, and Kamale Kamini in 1873 are also notable plays by him. The poetic style of Dinabandhu was inspired by poet Ishwar Chandra Gupta.
