New Orleans Saints’ is the official name of an American football team, founded in late 1966, that plays in the NFL. ‘The Saints’ is the nickname of Southampton Football Club, which plays association football (aka soccer) and is currently in the English Premier League. The nickname has been around since the club’s inception in 1885. So, we have two completely different teams, playing different sports in different countries. One has a nickname ‘The Saints’, the other has an official name that incudes ‘Saints’.
