What were the circumstances which led to the eventual collapse of indigo production in Bengal?
The indigo crops exhausted the soil fertility rapidly. After an indigo harvest, the land cannot be sown with another crop. All these circumstances lead to "The Blue Rebellion" which broke out in March 1859, which led to the collapse of indigo production in Bengal.
