Answer: On hydrolysis, sucrose (dextrorotatory) gives glucose (dextrorotatory, + 52.5°) and fructose (laevorotatory, – 92.4°). Since laevorotation of fructose is more than the dextrorotation of glucose, the mixture is laevorotatory.
