Mechanical Waves are waves which generate through a medium (solid, liquid, or gas) at a wave speed. A sound wave is an example of a mechanical wave. Sound waves cannot travel through vacuum, It requires some medium to propagate, which could be air, water or metal similar to mechanical waves. That’s why; a sound wave is called a mechanical wave.
