There are many a times we have observed that the thunder is heard few seconds later after the flash This happens because speed of light in atmosphere for air is 8 2 3 10 m/s  which are very high, to that of sound which is only 330 m/s. This is the reason; the sound of thunder reaches us later than the flash.
