What are the objectives of SAARC?
The objectives of the association are: to promote the welfare of the people of the South; to accelerate economic growth, social progress and cultural development in the region to promote and strengthen collective self-reliance among these countries; to contribute to mutual trust, understanding and appreciation of one another’s problems to promote active collaboration and mutual assistance in various fields to strengthen co-operation among themselves and regional forums and to co-operate with international and regional organisations.
