Which was the original name of Tansen, the famous musician in the court of Akbar?
Tansen was born somewhere between 1493 and 1500. He was born in the modern-day state of Madhya Pradesh in a Hindu family in the city of Gwalior. The original name of Tansen was RamaTanu Pandey. He was basically a court musician who worked in the durbar of Raja Ramchandra of Bandhavgarh that is Rewa. But soon after Akbar heard about the talent of Tansen and requested the king of Bandhavgarh to send Tansen to his court. Due to the immense talent of Tansen and his perfect art, Mughal emperor Akbar gave Tansen a special place in his Navratnas.
